Why do people always say “if you need help with anything, let me know?” True, it is a polite thing to say, and it does show you mean well. At the same time, this statement is putting the onus on the person you’re asking, to “figure out” how you might be able to help them. What you’re really doing, is offering to help…and creating work for the person you’re trying to help. They’re already burdened. So, take this as an opportunity to really show you care. Depending upon the circumstances, offer specific assistance such as; taking them a meal, suggesting to babysit, running errands or offering to do some chores. If you think ahead of time, you will find that there are many ways you can put action behind your words.
Dont ask…just do!
