Studio Mission: This yoga studio brings Yoga back to its roots and away from a pure fitness experience.
Yoga is a life changing event. I found that I personally needed to have balance in my life, and in starting my own practice many years ago, I immediately noticed the beneficial power of yoga that helped me achieve my life balance. I continued to develop my capabilities and over a couples of years I enrolled in several teacher trainings (with prominent master teachers such as Erich Schiffmann, Paul Grilley, Bernie Clarke, to name a few) in various styles, which carry over into my training in Ayurveda (Traditional Indian Medicine). After a number of years of teaching in the Philadelphia area, I decided to open my studio to reflect all of this experience into one true Yoga studio.
My vision, to blend together my many yogic training of different styles with the traditional Indian Ayurveda (translated as Science of Life) practice, allows my students to experience Yoga as it was meant to be–a treatment for strengthening and healing the mind and the body…far different than the current trend of Yoga as “fast food-like” exercise. At Katrin Elia Yoga, students work both the body and the mind, as well as, both energies of the Yin (passive) and of the Yang (active). Only this blend, worked in specific sequences, makes one feel complete and whole.
In my view, paying personal attention to each student in smaller class settings is what makes the studio so different! Katrin Elia Yoga offers group classes (mornings and evenings), One-on-One’s, Beginner’s Yoga Private Sessions (learning the ABCs of Yoga in two 90 minutes sessions), Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultations, Ayurvedic Massage, Yoga Nidra, and the Yoga Wall.
