Nelly Berman School of Music // Young Classical Virtuosos of Tomorrow Competition

This January 22nd, the Nelly Berman School of Music is holding the first round of the “Young Classical Virtuosos of Tomorrow,” an international competition in memory of my mother, Nelly Berman who passed away last year.
 
The competition is open internationally to students ages 7-25 in piano and strings, ages 10-25 in wind and brass, and ages 10-18 in voice and chamber. All students who practice 30 minutes a day or longer are welcome. The deadline to apply is December 19th. The application can be found online: https://nbsmusic.typeform.com/to/YhOM3D.
 
There will be two rounds of competition with two sets of distinguished judges, including Paul Arnold of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Ethan Bensdorf of New York Philharmonic, Dr. David Geber, Dean of Instrumental Studies at Manhattan School of Music, as well as Dr. Timothy Blair, Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at West Chester University, Faina Lushtak from Tulane University, and other internationally renowned musicians, including Julian Milkis, Knight of the Maltese Order, and Dr. Marianna Prjevalskaya, winner of the 2015 World Piano Competition

Mark your calendars, Santa Paws is coming to town! Doggie Style Pets Narberth will be offering $5 photos with santa for your furry friend to benefit Saved Me. Join Santa and his elf friends Friday December 16 from 3pm to 7pm and receive digital photos emailed on the same day!

Saved Me is a 503(C)3 non-profit organization focused on rescuing dogs and cats from shelters that are focused to euthanize due to limited amount of space. Saved Me provides quality medical care, shelter, food, and a safe & healthy environment for their rescues.

Montgomery County Offers Free Recycling Event Dec. 17 for Electronics, TVs

In advance of the holidays, Montgomery County residents have been unexpectedly offered a last-minute free electronics collection event. A TV manufacturer group is sponsoring the event to meet their recycling goal for the year. The event will be on Saturday, December 17th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Montgomery County Community College at 340 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, Pa. 19422 (enter at 595 Cathcart Road).

CRT, flat-screen TVs, monitors of all sizes, computers, cell phones and other electronics will be accepted, along with dorm fridges and microwaves.

All data-bearing material will be handled by qualified carriers for secure transit.

Storytelling Yoga is a fun way to introduce your child to yoga!  Through storytelling incorporating song, art and movement, we explore Yoga poses including Down Dog, Turtle and Cobra.  Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle, yoga mat (if you have one), light blanket for relaxation and your child’s favorite stuffed animal or blanket.

Location: Downtown Narberth, Haverford Ave and Forrest Ave

The biggest holiday festival on the Main Line, where downtown Narberth transforms into 1840s London for one December afternoon every year. The event includes period street vendors and food, caroling, musicians, costumed performers, puppet shows, dance performances, ice sculpting, carriage rides, and much more. Kids join in the free scavenger hunt to search for Ebenezer Scrooge and other costumed Dickens characters.
