Dont ask…just do!

Why do people always say “if you need help with anything, let me know?” True, it is a polite thing to say, and it does show you mean well. At the same time, this statement is putting the onus on the person you’re asking, to “figure out” how you might be able to help them. What you’re really doing, is offering to help…and creating work for the person you’re trying to help. They’re already burdened. So, take this as an opportunity to really show you care. Depending upon the circumstances, offer specific assistance such as; taking them a meal, suggesting to babysit, running errands or offering to do some chores. If you think ahead of time, you will find that there are many ways you can put action behind your words.

RADNOR TWP. – (VIDEO)

Radnor High 10th grader Eryka Joseph harmonizes with freshman Jordan Coleman over guitar riffs.

Senior Eliezer Marte shows of his unicycle skills.

Welcome to the Radnor A Better Chance house–also known as ABC. A national program that provides academically talented, minority students the opportunity to attend Radnor High without the financial burden.

It’s one  of the best schools in the country.

Melanyn Rivas recalls her challenge the first year there.

“I said these kids are running already and I  had to catch up. It’s hard”

Rivas is hundreds of miles from her Queens, New York home. She’s one of six students taking part in the program—five of them from out of state.

Austin Taylor’s from Atlanta.

“It’s nothing like I’ve seen. They’re loving caring and help push me to do what I need to do to go and to help achieve my dreams.

But the dreams of these teens may be have to be deferred.

ABC’s co-president says dwindling donations and $50,000 in repairs to the 110-year-old home’s roof, driveway and bathrooms could mean an end to the program.

“Our budget is $120,000 a year,” said Schorr. “We like to have a year in reserves and don’t have that. So if we cant provide the opportunities for the  kids’ their futures will be greatly affected if we have to close.”

And that could mean an end to Erika’s Ivy League dreams of becoming a lawyer.

It’s easier than ever, if you use one of the various sites on the web that have built-in features that help you plan your reunion. This will guarantee that it looks well organized and is a success. Many have built-in tools such as; promoting using social media, collecting RSVP’s and fees, and photo albums. Having everything conveniently accessed from one central place will insure that you generate a sustained interest, and have a high attendance at your event.

reunion

One that I have been most impressed with is myevent.com. They have hundreds of templates and the ability to offer customized designs and custom solutions as well. There are fees, but this can usually be raised by incorporating it into the cost of the reunion event if you like.

Feel free to comment and add any other easy to use site you may know of.
